How It Started
From a Kayak to a Community
Taiters Kayak was established in 2020 by founder and Dayton native Shaun Tait. Originally called Taiters Kayak Solutions, the company started as a mobile livery and shuttle service serving the greater Dayton area. What began as a handful of kayaks rented on weekends quickly grew into a fleet of 30+ watercraft going out multiple days a week for river floats, guided fishing tours, and Float Shows featuring live music.
What set the business apart from the start was the relationships Shaun built along the way. Partnerships with local venues, river access points, and the paddling community became part of the foundation. In 2024, Charles Overlock took the helm, carrying those relationships forward while growing the fleet, refreshing the name, and giving the brand a new look. The mission has stayed the same: get more people on the water.

The Miami Valley has some of the most scenic and accessible waterways in Ohio, and we believe everyone should get a chance to enjoy them.
